Bible Reading Tips and Guidelines
Thank you so much for your willingness to serve in this way
- Practice reading aloud a few times before Sunday.
- Read aloud the page number from the black church Bibles as well as the Chapter and Verse numbers (but not the heading provided in the Bible as they are not actual Scripture).
- Arrive at church early (so that the service leader knows you are there and ready).
- If you are unable to read on the day you are rostered on for, please organise to swap with someone. You will find everyone's phone and email addresses sent out with every roster.
- Then e-mail me so I can ensure the Bulletin is correct.
- Please ensure your e-mail and phone number details are correct in the Church Directory to make getting in touch with others on the roster easy.
- Don't wait for the service leader to announce you before approaching the pulpit. In the song before your reading, get ready, and be standing at the pulpit by the time the congregation is ready to sit down / before the congregation sit down. It is good not to leave the front space empty. This just keeps things flowing smoothly because the congregation knows exactly what is going on and is not ever left wondering.
- Any more help/info that you might need, please do not hesitate to ask the host!
